If you’ve ever wished you could switch up the font in your Instagram Stories, now you can!

Today, Instagram introduced “Type” mode, a new way to add personality your Instagram Stories. You may recognize this new feature from the status updates feature currently being used by Facebook.

Type is a new way for you to share what’s on your mind with creative text styles and backgrounds.

Type in Instagram Stories is now available to everyone as part of Instagram version 30 for iOS in the Apple App Store and for Android in Google Play.

Ready to learn how you can use these fun new fonts? Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how to use Type and spice up your Instagram Stories!

How to Change Fonts in Instagram Stories with “Type”:

Using Type is fun and easy!

To switch to Type, all you have to do is open your camera and click “Type” at the bottom of your screen. You’ll now see “Type” next to “Live”, along with your other camera options under the record button:

After you begin typing, tap on the “Modern” button at the top center of your screen to switch through different types:

The new Type options include Modern, Neon, Typewriter and Strong:

You can also pick different background colors by tapping on the button in the bottom left corner.

Another fun way to make your text stand out is by highlighting different areas of your text. Just select the text you want to highlight, and click the button in the top left corner.

NOTE: Highlights cannot be added in Neon or Modern mode.

You can also use the new font styles when adding text to any photo or video. Using these new type options can help your message stand out and keep users clicking through your Instagram Stories.

Instagram’s Type can be used to post your favorite song lyrics, ask your followers a question, or just let people know what’s on your mind in a new and creative way.

Type is also a great tool for brands and businesses to keep their customers up-to-date. If you’ve got an important announcement to make, a coupon code, event, or promotion to share, Type will make the process quicker and easier than ever before.
