Glow-Down

The term "glow-down" is a play on the phrase "glow-up" and is used to describe a situation where someone's appearance or overall attractiveness has diminished or taken a downturn.

While a "glow-up" refers to a positive transformation or improvement in one's physical appearance or confidence over time, a "glow-down" indicates the opposite — an apparent decline in attractiveness or self-presentation. It's often used in a lighthearted or humorous manner, acknowledging that everyone has their ups and downs in terms of how they look or present themselves.

Where does the term Glow-Down come from?

The term “glow-down” originated on Urban Dictionary in 2015 and is used as the opposite of the African American Vernacular slang term “glow-up”. The term quickly spread to Twitter and other social media platforms like TikTok and Youtube to describe someone’s negative transformation.
