Schedule your Instagram posts, videos, and stories all in one place.
Auto Publish means that the posts you’ve scheduled in Later will publish to Instagram without any more work on your side. For example, if you have a single photo post (complete with caption, first comment, location tag, etc.) set to Auto Publish at 3:00 PM on Saturday, that post will go live at 3:00 Saturday. Some might say you can “set it and forget it.” 😏
With Notification Publishing, you can schedule a post in Later (along with your captions, etc.), and get a reminder (complete with your media items, your captions—all the details) sent to your phone when it’s time to post. It’s a bit more manual, but it’s great if you like to put the finishing touches on your post in Instagram before it goes live.
Due to API limitations, there are some post types that cannot be Auto Published. In those cases, you can always schedule in Later and use Notification Publishing.
Read more about the difference between the two here.
Right now, Instagram’s API only allows Auto Publishing for Business profiles. If you’re on a Personal or Creator profile, you cannot Auto Publish posts in Later—but you can still schedule through Notification Publishing.
Carousel posts (otherwise known as Multi-Photo posts) cannot be Auto Published. Bummer, we know. The Instagram API doesn’t allow automatic publishing for certain post types, and Multi-Photo posts fall in that category.
But remember: you can still use Later to edit, perfect, and schedule Multi-Photo posts through Notification Publishing.
At the moment, Instagram Stories scheduled in Later must be published through Notification Publishing.
That means: you can still plan and edit your Instagram Stories in Later (which is sometimes easier than using your phone), schedule them, and get a reminder sent to your phone when it’s time to post.
FYI: this is a restriction from the official Instagram API. As an official Instagram partner, those are the rules we adhere to. Any solutions who offer automatic publishing for stories may be less-than-legit. 😬
Because Instagram Stories need to be published through Notification Publishing, they must be scheduled using the Later desktop app first.
Not yet—but we’re keeping a close eye on things. 👀 As soon as Instagram’s API allows scheduling to IGTV or Reels, you can expect a top-notch scheduler from us.
