Tip #2: Use Instagram Topics
The second tip is a newer feature on Instagram called Topics. Now, if you want to get more views, it sounds like Instagram is pushing Topics a little more than using hashtags on your Reels. So here's how to use them properly.
When posting a Reel, go to "Add Topics" and choose three specific topics that describe your Reel the best. However, be careful not to make your selections too vague, as Instagram will not know where to push your content to.
After selecting your topics, I'd also recommend adding five to eight hashtags to further categorize your content into the right niche. This way, you can maximize your chances of reaching a larger audience on Instagram.
Tip #3: Use SEO tactics on Instagram
A strong SEO or Search Engine Optimization strategy is one of the best ways to get more views on your Reels. But how does Instagram SEO actually work? To sum it up, Instagram's algorithm processes every piece of content on the app and gathers information it can use to determine what the post is about, including who might find it interesting.
And even though the algorithm does all of this work automatically, there are a few ways you can help steer it in a more optimized direction. For your Reel, specifically, make sure that your captions are as descriptive as possible. And make sure that you're adding captions and onscreen text that is also relevant to your content. And speaking of text, this isn't an SEO tip, but make sure that you're also adding text to your Reels covers. This will make your Reels more "clicky", where people will want to click through and watch your Reel.
Tip #4: Use TikTok trends
The fourth tip is to take inspiration from what's trending on TikTok. Even if it hasn't made its way to Reels yet, TikTok is the place to be if you're looking for trending short-form video content and many people on Instagram may not be on TikTok. By keeping up with the latest trends and sounds on TikTok, you can try to jump on a trend early on Instagram.
It's worth noting that many of the same trends and audio tracks from TikTok eventually make their way to Instagram a few weeks later. If you stay up to date with what's trending on TikTok, chances are you'll be one of the first to bring that trend to Reels.
