Lowkey
Lowkey describes something you want to do in secret or keep a low profile about.
What is lowkey?
Lowkey is a slang term used on social media posts and comments to express a low-profile emotion or response.
Opposite of “highkey”, lowkey is a term used by someone who wants to hide or not draw further attention to how they’re feeling about something, someone, or an event.
"Lowkey" is a term that originated in African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and is used to indicate that something is being kept quiet or on the down-low. It can also be used to convey a sense of understatement or to describe something that is not overly intense or dramatic.
Lowkey can also be used in a joking way to add humor and demonstrate how excited or nervous someone is feeling about something. For example, someone could say, “Lowkey, I’m feeling really nervous about my presentation next week.”
