AI has entered the chat 🤖

Published February 3, 2023

It's official: AI content creation is having its moment in the spotlight.

And while AI-generated tools aren’t completely new, the growing popularity of ChatGPT by OpenAI and Jasper AI have opened up an entirely new conversation.

Some have welcomed these tools with open arms, while others question whether it'll replace their jobs:

Our stance? It won't. But it will change content creation as we know it.

We're breaking it all down — including a new Later feature. 👀

What is AI Content Creation?

In a nutshell, AI content creation means using tools powered by artificial intelligence to generate content.

AI chatbots like ChatGPT use a language-based model, meaning it'll respond to the text you input and then generate outputs based on the data it gathers.

With it, you can create anything from long-form blog content to social media captions to recipes:

But AI-generated content also goes beyond writing.

There has been a rise in apps that create artwork, AI-inspired filters on social media platforms, and photo editing tools too.

And while AI can’t replace originality, we’ll likely be seeing a lot more of it in the coming years.

Will AI Content Creation Tools Replace Content Writers, Social Media Managers, and Marketers?

Short answer: no.

While we will see an increase in brands and solopreneurs using AI-generated tools to create long-form articles, email subject lines, or social media captions, the most effective copy still has a human element to it.

Even AI is aware of its limitations when it comes to creativity and nuance:

Plus, an over-reliance on AI could lead to the same cookie-cutter content or copy that is riddled with errors and plagiarism.

Instead, think of AI content creation tools as a way to generate ideas and optimize your workflow (more on that later).

What Does AI Content Creation Mean for Your Social Strategy?

When it comes to your social strategy, AI can help you be more productive in the initial stage of creating content, and also frees up your time to focus on other tasks.

“It’s useful for fast-track brainstorming and outlining — especially when you have writer’s block,” shares Content Marketing Specialist, Alyssa Gagliardi.

Here at Later, we already encourage the use of our AI-powered tools like Hashtag Suggestions and Best Time to Post to save time and maximize your efficiency.

Which is why we're launching an AI Caption Writer tool.

With it, you can generate relevant and engaging captions for your Instagram posts by inputting a few keywords and phrases:

“AI writing tools can provide helpful prompts as a baseline when you need some extra inspiration," says Christine Colling, Later's Social Media Manager.

"However, it’s still extremely important to edit and tweak the copy to make sure it’s on-brand, written in your tone of voice, and to ensure it’s telling the story you want to tell,” she adds.

So, do we think that you should switch to only using AI? No, but it can be a great tool to support your social media strategy.

Stay tuned.
