We’re only a month into 2017 and Instagram is already coming in hot with new features! Earlier this morning, Droid Life broke the story that Instagram is testing the ability to share multiple photos and videos in a single post.

Last February, Instagram introduced “carousel ads,” which allow advertisers to publish 3-5 images in a single Instagram ad. It seems that same feature is now in beta (tech lingo for “external testing”) for regular Instagram users as well.

According to The Verge, to share multiple photos in one post, instead of tapping on a photo, you have to long-press. From there, a prompt will instruct you to select up to 10 images or videos (applying separate filters to each if you want) before posting everything in a single gallery on your feed.

It’s still unclear whether galleries will appear as slideshows or Tumblr-like photosets, but your followers and other Instagram users should able to like individual photos in each post.

While the ability to assemble a gallery is available in the latest beta release for Android (version 10.7.0 of the app), Instagram has so far prevented users from actually publishing galleries to their feeds. If you’re an iOS user, you’ll have to wait a little longer!

The Benefits of Sharing Multiple Photos

The ability to share multiple photos and videos in a single post should give users more flexibility to share relevant content without spamming their feeds. For example, you could share multiple photos from your wedding or a recent vacation!
