Today we are excited to bring two highly-requested features to Later: you can now tag locations and users in your scheduled Instagram posts!

This new feature closes the loop on Instagram scheduling, giving you the ability to plan every element for your post ahead of time, without having to edit your post in Instagram later.

Here’s how it works:

Optimize Your Instagram Scheduling for More Engagement with Location + Profile Tagging

As a trusted member of the Instagram Partner Program, Later is 100% safe to use for scheduling Instagram posts.

Our new tagging feature is available for Instagram auto publishing, which means that you can now add a location, tag users in your photo, and your scheduled post will automatically be posted to Instagram at the time you choose. No notifications required!

Instagram tagging is available on all of our paid plans, starting at just $9/month! Upgrade now to get access to this feature and save time scheduling.

Note: due to Instagram API restrictions, Instagram auto publishing and tagging is only available for single photo posts, not carousel or video posts. You’ll also need to have an Instagram business profile, and you can learn how to set up auto publishing for Instagram here.

For carousel/video posts, you can continue to schedule posts via the “notification” publishing method, and you’ll still be able to tag locations and users in the native Instagram app!

How to Tag Locations in Scheduled Instagram Posts:

Tagging locations on Instagram can help get your post seen by more people, make it more discoverable in search, and provide valuable or helpful information to your followers!

To tag a location in Later, create a new post or open a scheduled post from your calendar.

Click the Add Location button below the Linkin.bio field

Type in your location to find a list of options, scroll to find the correct one, and then select the location and click “save.”

And you’re done! Your post will now be published with an Instagram location tag.

How to Tag Users in Scheduled Instagram Posts:

Tagging friends and brands in your Instagram photos is not only fun, it’s also essential for some industries!

Tagging relevant businesses or users in your posts can help your post get more engagement, increase the potential of it being shared by a larger account, and it teaches the Instagram algorithm who (and what) is important to you.

To tag an Instagram user in Later, create a new post or open a scheduled post from your calendar.

Click on the Tag People button below your photo

Click on the spot in your photo where you would like the tag to appear.

Type in their Instagram @username on the right, and click Save User Tag

That’s it! Your scheduled Instagram post will now be published with tags added to your photo.

There are a few important things to note:

  • Later cannot autocomplete or spellcheck Instagram usernames

  • Private profiles cannot be tagged

If you tag a private user or misspell an Instagram username, your tags will fail when your post is published, so make sure to double check your tags before saving!
